    Going Camping
I've got three days booked off this week, so I can go and spend a week sleeping under the elements.
We might be going to Kielder Water or somewhere in the Lake District.
    That's about it.

    In other news:
I've got my record player hooked up to my PC now and am in the process of transferring my LPs to CD via the hard-drive. First up: The Muppet Show (first cast album).

    Blogging Madness
Starting on Saturday morning I will be taking part in a massive feat of endurance in the hope of raising some cash for charity. Because I'm a weakling and a (bit of a) geek this won't involve climbing tall trees, running anywhere, or taking part in any form of competitive sport - so, sadly, there's very little chance of horrific or amusing injuries which is always what I hope for when I sponsor my friends.
Instead, I'll be taking part in (what is known in the trade as) a 24 hour Blog-a-thon. A blog is, as you know, an online journal, and I will be writing an entry every half hour from ten on Saturday morning to ten on Sunday morning.

The actual blog where it's happening can be found here:
    http://timbo.virtuallynicky.co.uk

"But!" I hear you cry, "How can we support you in this act of madness?"
Simple, there is a web-page (associated with Cancer Research) where donations can be made online:
http://www.justgiving.com/timbobaggins (more details of which are at the bottom of the entry)
Failing that, I've got some forms which can be filled in with the old pen and paper routine.

As a special incentive, a donation of five pounds will buy an entry in the journal on a subject of your choice. (Let me know via e-mail or text)

Thanks for reading this far, please give generously,

PS Sorry for all the cross posting and:
    Here's the blurb from justgiving.com:

All donations are secure and sent electronically to Cancer Research UK. If you are a UK taxpayer, Justgiving will automatically reclaim 28% Gift Aid on your behalf, so your donation is worth even more. Please join me in supporting Cancer Research UK and a fabulous cause.

    Thanks and best wishes,
    Tim

    *** About donating online ***

It's very easy to support Tim online - just go to their page at the web address below where you can make a donation.

    Web Address: http://www.justgiving.com/timbobaggins

Donating takes a matter of minutes and is totally secure. You can leave a message with your donation too.

If you pay UK tax, Justgiving will automatically reclaim and add 28% Gift Aid to your donation at no cost to you, so it's even better for the charity.

As you can probably tell, I've got things sorted out internet-wise
So Orange were rubbish, but I sorted it all out myself!
    *basks in the glory*
Anyway, I now have proper internet access at the flat, and so does my flatmate (who's paying a share) so I don't need to feel guilty about it not being set up right any more.

Not a particularly interesting entry, I admit, but slightly more up beat than the last two.

    And shorter.

Long Rambly Rant (Should have been posted 29th March)
This won't upload anyway, so I don't know why I'm bothering...

This afternoon was bad enough - I'd eaten well last night, had a good breakfast, made my usual lunch of two rounds of cheese on toast and by the end of lunch-time I was suffering massive hunger pains. There's a lot of my stomach to give me pain in such cases. There was no food from meetings to scrounge, no spare bread for tomorrow's sandwiches (I don't work in the same place on Friday's) and since I was the only member of staff about I couldn't even pop to the shop for an emergency pastie. And with the hunger pangs came pure exhaustion and headache. Couldn't concentrate on work for toffee - what I wouldn't have given for a toffee, but alas!

Anyway, I leave at the end of the day and get home to find a dentist's appointment and a letter from the bank waiting for me.

a terrible tale of woe )

The Socket that Never Was and the Party that Was Already
This is what should have been posted on Saturday:

Today, after much prevaricating around the bush, I finally made it into town to buy a super-video cable to connect my DVD player directly into my computer monitor. When I got back to the flat, I excitedly unwrapped the cable and turned the monitor upside down - only to discover that the little yellow socket which I distinctly remember having been there when I set up the monitor (and when I checked again, thinking that it was a bit unlikely) had completely and utterly vanished. I'm used to not remembering things which have actually happened - that's part of being old(ish) and not having slept properly since October, but to properly know deep inside that something happened which it turns out never was is very depressing.

It's not just me that's losing my mind... )

Let's see if this fools it
I'm going to post a sentence here and then try to edit in the rest of the post.

    This is a test
Live Journal refused to post last night and earlier this afternoon - has anybody else been having problems?
Hotmail, MySpace and eBay are also being awkward.
Or is it just my shiney new ISP who claim that the problem lies entirely with the external sites?
